Night Moves

In Palau, pay is biweekly, typically occurring every other Friday. So what do you do to celebrate money in the bank? Go to the Night Market!

The Night Market is an outdoor shopping plaza, basically. Local restaurants set up tents to serve their wares. The covered tables are rented out to different groups each week to sell their wares. The Koror State Night Market takes place at Ernguul Park, right in the heart of downtown Koror, while the Airai Night Market is held at the park below the Friendship Bridge.

My Frankfort, KY friends remember Capital Expo in its heyday: a stage with rotating bands or other acts, local cloggers showing off, and artisans from over the state selling their handmade crafts. That is what the Night Market reminds me of. And BOTH have the most important thing: food on a stick!
